South African Mounted Rifles brass horse breastplate badge, 1913 to 1926, King’s crown.

Brass King's crown brass horse breastplate badge for the South African Mounted Rifles - Zuid Afrikaanse Bereden Schutters (Dutch language). Worn 1913 to 1926.

Used, but good condition with screw fasteners shortened and shows attempts of attaching lugs. See picture for details.

The S.A.M.R. were formed on 1 April 1913 from the existing Permanent and Police Forces of the South African provinces. The last regiment was disbanded in 1926.
1st Regiment - from Cape Mounted Riflemen
2nd Regiment - from Natal Police and O.F.S. Police
3rd Regiment - from Natal Police
4th Regiment - from Transvaal Police
5th Regiment - from Cape Mounted Police
