Only in 1969 was the Royal prefix granted to the Hong Kong Police. Royal Hong Kong Police Force ended on 30 June 1997 with the hand-over of Hong Kong back to China. It became the Hong Kong Police (no “Royal” prefix).
At centre of badge is the Hong Kong waterfront featuring ships and a meeting between British and Chinese surrounded by a laurel wreath. A blue scroll with "Royal Hong Kong Police" at the bottom, with a St. Edward's Crown (Queen's crown) surmounting the badge.
