The design of the field cap of the German Armed Forces is essentially based on the design of the mountain cap (Bergmütze). In addition to the color, the biggest difference is that the flaps sewn firmly on the side parts are only hinted at on the field cap, which is made of comparatively light fabric.
The Bundeswehr insignia consists of cockade in the federal colours black-red-gold above the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) branch of service badge consisting of crossed swords for Heer (Army).
