The Ordnance Corps was the body charged with supplying weapons, ammunition, and equipment to the British Army.
The Ordnance Store Corps (1881) was renamed the Army Ordnance Corps in 1896.
The Army Ordnance Department was amalgamated into the Army Ordnance Corps in 1918.
The new Army Ordnance Corps was granted the prefix ‘Royal’ in 1922.
In 1993 the Royal Corps of Transport, the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, the Royal Pioneer Corps, the Army Catering Corps and the Royal Engineers Postal and Courier Service were merged to form the Royal Logistic Corps.
The badge of this corps consists of a Garter bearing the motto 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). This is surmounted by a monarchial crown. Within the Garter is a shield charged with the arms of the Board of Ordnance. Below the Garter is a tripartite scroll bearing the motto: "Sua Tela Tonanti" ("To the Warrior his Arms").
