The Naval Home Guard, is the maritime part of the Norwegian Home Guard.
The Norwegian Home Guard (Heimevernet – "HV") is the rapid mobilization force within the Norwegian armed forces. Its main focus is local defense and civil support, but it can also detach volunteers for international operations.
Its main tasks are safeguarding territorial integrity, strengthening military presence, and protecting important infrastructure.
The Naval Home Guard has branches along the entire coast of Norway.
SHV is organised with four commands, North Norway (Tromsø), Central Norway (Trondheim), West Norway (Bergen) and South Norway (Stavern), as well as the Naval Home Guard's Education and Competence Centre (SHV UKS) in Bergen.
