In Iceland, the Police is the national police force of Iceland.
It is responsible for law enforcement throughout the country, except in Icelandic territorial waters which fall under the jurisdiction of the Icelandic Coast Guard.
In 1930, a new uniform was introduced by the police and a new police badge, which was a six-pointed star. In the middle of it is a shield over two crossed swords, and in a circle around the shield are the police motto: MEÐ LÖGUM SKAL LAND BYGGJA = COUNTRY SHALL BE BUILT BY LAW.
